The 21 things Wiki

A step by step project to learn about some Web 2.0 tools.

Each one of the 21 things will explore an on-line resource which are useful for creating a web presence for a library.

Thing 1. Each participant in this project will need to set up their own Wiki. PBWiki offers a free Wiki service. Go to PBWorks and set up a Wiki account for your first thing.  http://pbworks.com/  This short video explains the concept of wikis as a handy tool for group projects.

There are 21 'things' to do, each with its own page. Go to http://21things.pbworks.com/browse/#view=ViewAllPages   to find all the different 'things' we discuss in this wiki. When you click on a page, you will find helpful information about a specific 'thing' as well as instructions or discussion prompts for you to use in your own wiki. You can do the 'things' in order or you can start with which ever 'thing' you find most interesting. As you go though the 21 things you will post your thoughts and comments on your wiki. You can also add videos, web pages and links to resources and helpful information you find about each thing. The idea is to demonstrate your understanding of each Web 2.0 tool and what can be done with each one to help create a knowledge sharing site. All of the noted Web 2.0 tools and applications are becoming important componets to library websites and help keep the public informed of everything that is happening at their libraries.
